LUDHIANA: Parking continues to be a pain in the neck for visitors to the Mini Secretariat as there is a lack of space in the entire complex. The condition is such that the visitors are forced to park their vehicles on the road outside due to lack of it.
‘‘Until there is a check on rise of number of vehicles, such matters cannot be fully solved. Further, there is a lot of work pressure at the moment, which is becoming a great hurdle in the way of the solution,’’ said ADC Kuldeep Singh.
Notably, the proposal of the multi-storied parking lot, which had come as a ray of light still remains unattended to.
The proposal was made after a detailed discussion under former deputy commissioner Vikas Garg, who had claimed that the report of the multi-storied parking had been sent to the government and was in fact in the finalization stage.
However, a halt had been put to the project due to lack of funds.
Talking to TOI, ADC Kuldeep Singh said that keeping in mind the convenience of people, constant meetings were being held to discuss the issue. In fact, recently the multi-storied parking project had been handed over to the Punjab Infrastructure Development Board (PIDB), which would take care of the matter and solve the problem.
Nonetheless, bearing the brunt of the situation are the thousands of people who drop in at the Mini Secretariat day in and day out. ‘‘The administration has gone blind to the problems of the people which is why nothing yet has been done about the multi-storied parking project which had promised to solve the problem of parking space causing a lot of inconvenience,’’ said SK Sethi, a visitor.
